&tradition in Paris

The Danish design brand &tradition has a strong legacy with classic icons from the past, always seeking new future classics for the collection as well as new collaborations within fashion, art and beyond. When MR Agency in Paris, who is in charged of the daily operations of the Coco Chanel apartment decided to modernize the apartment by decorating it with contemporary furniture and objects, the founder Melissa Regan invited &tradition. – I have been following &tradition over the past few years and have always been impressed with their collections, says Regan. –The style is fresh, yet based on a strong and visible Nordic heritage in terms of design and high quality. When I was looking for a partner for this location, &tradition was the obvious choice. I was sure that their lush, contemporary style would work within the Coco space.

The history of the apartment was an important element and inspiration for &tradition designer Signe Hytte, who furnished the &tradition room. – When you enter the Coco Chanel apartment, you are instantly struck by a feeling of grandeur and splendour,” says Hytte. – It was paramount for me that the furniture we chose could and should fit the apartment’s impressive legacy. In addition to the room’s dark wooden panels with its meticulous cut-outs, the marble fireplace and the brass elements are just some of the signature materials used by &tradition, making the curated pieces from their collection a perfect match. – I chose some of the classic and most iconic pieces from the &tradition collection in the finest, most exclusive, rich materials and colors, such as the Mayor sofa by Arne Jacobsen and Flemming Lassen, explains Hytte. The company Pure entertainment Group arrange private tours of Coco Chanel´s apartment at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris.

– Coco Chanel was not only the most famous person who lived in the apartment, she was the one who made the biggest impact, explains founder of MR Agency Melissa Regan, in charge of the daily operations of the apartment. – While Coco was living here, her friend and lover created the fresco ceiling, the Jean Cocteau room came into being, and Coco designed the garden.
