Republic of Fritz Hansen

The Fritz Hansen concept store is located at Valkendorfsgade 4 in a former mansion and royal post office close to Købmagergade. In the 270 sqm universe you will meet the iconic Arne Jacobsen´s the Egg, the Swan and series 7 chairs, along with classics from Poul Kjærholm and new designs from the Spanish designer Jaime Hayón, the Danish architect Cecilie Manz and the Danish designer Kasper Salto. The 250 years old building makes a sublime setting, and has a visual identity designed by the Danish retail specialists Briq Group. The theme is Nordic, easy and homely with a distinct Fritz Hansen DNA created by using natural colors and materials. The lighting is from Lightyears, which Fritz Hansen acquired in 2015. All the accessories in the store are from Fritz Hansen´s own collection, which was launched in the spring of 2016. The carpets are from Danskin and Kinnasand, both owned by the Danish textile company Kvadrat. The art on the walls will be changing exhibitions from various galleries. Everything in the store is for sale. To celebrate the opening in Copenhagen Fritz Hansen launches a unique version of Arne Jacobsen´s classic Seven chair. It is named the Series 7 Copenhagen and is inspired by the city´s dark sky at night that poetically stands as a background to all the city´s towers. The chair launches in to versions and is sold exclusively at the store in Copenhagen. The opening of the store in Copenhagen is part of Fritz Hansen’s global retail strategy. Over the past two years the company has opened Concept Stores in several Asian cities. In the spring of 2016 the company opened in Tokyo and Milan, and this autumn a store in San Fransisco is following the Copenhagen opening.
