Nordiska Galleriet in Stockholm

The store on Nybrogatan 11 in the historic Ôstermalm neighborhood in Stockholm dates back to 1912. Along with modernism Nordiska Galleriet arose under the management of Carl-Magnus Heigard to become one of Europe´s leading furniture stores, introducing the concept that the store should appear more like an exhibition in a gallery, curating the very best of modern design. Heigard was the first to bring back and introduce masterpieces by Børge Mogensen, Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton and Charles and Ray and Charles Eames to Sweden. With a passion for mid-century Italian furniture he curated the exhibition “Viva l´Italia in 1967, introducing B&B Italia and Cassina to Scandinavian´s. Today Nordiska Galleriet continues the Heigard concept with an ambition to appear as more than a store, curating the best of 21st century design and contemporary furniture, art, accessories and vintage.
