New Cph Sweet Spot

Norm Architects have created a wine bar and gourmet restaurant called Nærvær in Copenhagen. – Nærvær means “Presence” and is about exactly that, the thing that we are all longing for; time for each other, being attentive and making eye contact. In its essence, Nærvær is about being in the moment, being present, Norm Architects explains. Nærvær is situated at Christianshavn on Krøyers Plads, overlooking the canal with a beautiful view over Copenhagen´s old city centre. The new place is both a wine bar and a intimate gourmet restaurant with seating of no more than 10 people, and has the ambition of being a local non expensive wine bar as well as a restaurant serving guests from around the world. The well known Danish-French chef Yves Christian-Francois Le Lay is running Nærvær´s gourmet restaurant, with a vision to have an extraordinary experience of French cousin were the kitchen is the scene and the guests the audience.

Nærvær´s interior is formed by a casual atmosphere with small spaces and niches, defined by stone, wood and metal in a natural appearance creating a dark and industrial surface that matches the mood of the place. The focus on this tactility brings richness to the interior and naturally compliments the raw concrete walls and industrial framework. The color palette reflects the exterior of the building, bringing a dark and warm spectrum of colors into the space that intensifies the intimacy. This contrasting use of materials, colors and objects ultimately enhances the intimate experience and sense of presence that was the initial catalyst for the project.
