Maison du Danemark in Paris
Maison du Danemark in Paris is located at Champs-Elysees in a historical building from 1935 that has housed Maison du Danemark since 1955. The interior has been undergoing a throughout renovation with the aim to revive a combination of classic Danish design with a Danish culinary experience. The new interior stands out as a fusion of modern Danish elegance together with a sophisticated French influence in a unique combination. The Danish-Italian design duo GamFratesi has been responsible for the overall interior, and chosen materials, color schemes and designs with the aim to express contemporary and classic Danish design philosophy. They invited Gubi to join them in designing and develop new products for the two restaurants in the building. The new furniture will be a part of Gubi´s permanent collection, and be launched at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in February. Maison du Danemark hosts two world class restaurants; Flora Danica, a contemporary Danish brasserie with French influences, and Copenhague, a more formal restaurant serving Scandinavian specialties, both world class restaurants with the Danish Andreas Møller as the chef. The walls are decorated with Cobra Lamps and large scale mirrors.
“A chair with armrest was requested to match the classic and refined atmosphere. The client loved the Masculo Chair because of its comfort and strong references to Danish design classics from the 50’s. We therefore agreed to develop a new, simple yet elegant base which resulted in Masculo four-legged metal version.” – Jacob Gubi, CEO & Founder
