Andy Warhol rugs

The Swedish carpet manufacturer Henzel Studio has launched a unique limited and numbered collection of rugs with accompanying art pillows in close collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation of Visual Arts. The hand knotted rug collection in silk is the reproduction of one of Warhol’s unknown works, which is a homage to Marilyn Monroe, his most iconic and popular model. The design has been based on a sketch Warhol created for an unrealized art book, which consisted of 38 octagonal sides of ten detailed variations of Marilyn Monroe. Each of these ten pictures have then been reproduced and woven into a unique carpet design. The sketch for the book was discovered in one of Warhol’s 610 “time capsules”, – boxes he filled with gifts, pictures, letters, magazines and artwork dated from 1974 to his death in 1987. Henzel Studio Heritage: Andy Warhol collection will be worldwide launched in an exhibition at Seleceted Pieces by Linedelof in Stockholm January 19 to February 2.
